Six Months Old

He kisses. He Hugs. He Laughs uncontrollably when Deuce licks him. Our baby is getting big. I am starting to be able to see what he could look like when he is a toddler. It is crazy.

Karen was right when she said that it seems like he has been around a while. I kept wanting to say that I can't believe he is SIX MONTHS OLD now because that is what you are supposed to say, but really it does feel like six months if not more. I can barely recall the days of blissful childless sleep and drunken nights of karaoke where a headache would be the only thing I would be nursing the next morning. And by morning, I mean noonish. FYI, there is no noonish awakening post-baby. There's not even a 10ish. Maybe you'll have a "my husband is so nice, I can sleep 'til 9ish on Saturday", but no noonish. Take heed, my thinkin-'bout-having-babies cohorts! I know how you peeps love your sleeps.

SIX MONTHS OLD. I must now confess that I secretly inside cussed some folks out during months 1-3 when they told me it does get easier. Especially when it didn't even by 4 months. Well, would you just take a look at us now? No, seriously. Look at us. We are sleeping. We are still breastfeeding-even after a couple of interventions where it was pointed out to me that continuing could very well happen at the expense of my sanity. We have a friend and its name is ROUTINE. Henry is on it like white on rice. Cereal (mixed with some organic pears). Peas and sweet potatoes seem to be working out well, too.

At SIX MONTHS OLD, Henry enjoys the following;
Giving me kisses
Holding my chin or patting me on the face when nursing or being bottle fed
Watching Daddy work in the yard
Chewing on his feet- especially when he is wearing his monkey socks.
Playing with Amy

He still has the old faves too, like holding my hair, jumping in his door jumper,watching his mobile. We are currently working on sitting up unassisted for more than three seconds in a row. God love him, his head being the size it is just pulls his body over in whatever direction it goes. Greg grew into his large cranium, so shall you, my son.

I will have to say that hands down my favorite thing that being SIX MONTHS OLD has brought about is the laughter. His voice is the most amazing sound I have ever heard in my life. Everything cracks him up right now and we are having so much fun. I have a feeling six months from now I will be thinking this time has flown by, but for now, he is SIX MONTHS OLD.

Pool Time!

The designer in me swore I'd never have a garishly-colored plastic inflatable whale pool in my front yard, but here we are...
