Your Twoness

Dear Henry,

Two years ago I remember trying to imagine what kind of person you would become. There is no way I could have dreamed up the deliciousness that makes up the incredible little human I get to wake up to daily.

You are hilarious. Both intentionally and unintentionally so. You make your dad and I laugh constantly. Much of that laughter is from your performances. You love music. You sing and dance and prefer do so with an audience (the larger, the better). You ask the teachers at school to play cds so you can dance. In the car, you choose a cd, or request we sing a particular song. You will belt out any of your standard tunes with out any hesitation (you get that from me). When you dance, you stick your skinny little butt out and bounce up and down while alternating shoulder/arm lifts (you get that from your dad). You very much enjoy our living room dance parties even though your dad prefers to cheer you on from the non-dancing comfort of his chair. Rock the Casbah, Let's go Crazy, Dancing Queen, and Rock with You are your current party faves.

You are polite. I swear god, I will never forget the way your voice sounds when you say "Thank you, Mommy" for anything I do for you. It kills me. You also like to touch people's legs when you walk down the hall for a reason to say excuse me- a phrase also used when you want me to stop trying to brush your hair or teeth, or when you want out of your car seat.

You are a leader. Some might say bossy. At school, you help the teachers with lunch. You are at the head of the line for your nature walks and point out where the best rocks are located for the kids to pick up, and you instruct your classmates to sit down at snack time. I have no idea from whom this trait was inherited.

You are brilliant. Your vocabulary is growing daily and our conversations are becoming more conversational. (ex:You: Breakfast? Me: Ok, you want to go get breakfast now? You: Yeah, let's go!) You can count to ten in English and say hello and count to three in Spanish. Thanks to aunt Alcy, you now also say Good Morning in Thai. We will next be working on some Swedish. You used to say thank you, but we have not practiced that one in a while.

You are quirky. You are still crazy about bellies. Especially mine. You demand I lift my shirt so you can touch and kiss it. This is especially awkward in public. You daily come to me and say socks off please, so you can sit next to me and put your feet on it. You absolutely love the fact that I told you there is a baby in there. Last night you said baby in belly in your sleep. oh yeah, you talk in your sleep. You dislike covers of any kind. No sheet or blanket can touch any part of your body without you freaking out on us. You call cheerios, goo, for some reason. Whenever we go to a restaurant, you march in and yell at the top of your lungs, yay, dinner! When you get super excited to see your dad, you turn your head away from him and smile so big. Just like you did when you were a little baby.

Your dad and I are so proud of everything you are and everything you do. We are so thankful we get to have you hang out in our house for at least another sixteen years. Happy happy 2nd birthday to you. We love you.

Mommy

Umm excuse me but "you have no idea" where he got his bossiness from? I remember dances and skits and games and even sing alongs all coordinated by the strict rules and regulations of one Kelsey Webb.

And, Kelsey's Mom's sisters will tell you about the skits and dances and beauty pageants that Henry's Mormor orchestrated. Of course, I did not rig the pageants as they like to point out. I won on my own each and every time!

I love Henry so much!!!
